Kid-Capsule has 3 ways of sharing your family photos, memories, milestones and events:
- Send an e-mail
- Post to your Facebook wall
- Send the packaged event to other Kid-Capsule users
All three methods have the option of attaching a photo to go along with it. Each photo will be highlighted with a scrapbook style background and a vellum style tag with the event details written on it.
As of Version 1.2 there are 2 backgrounds to choose from: Classic and Winter. But get ready for version 1.2.1 of Kid-Capsule, it will have 3 new backgrounds to complete the seasons and it will offer an easier way to select the background for your image.
This is how easy it is:
Every event is equipped with a sharing button:
Once you tap the sharing button you will have 3 sharing options as described above:
If you decide to share a photograph with your event, you will be presented with the event’s image gallery:

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.” – Albert Einstein
This is one of my all time favorite quotes and it’s very fitting for this post.
Kid-Capsule has a comprehensive collection of categories under which you save your memories and events. We believe it helps guide and inspire parents along the way. One such category is “Vivid Imagination” and it’s one I use quite often. Children have amazing minds so it’s important to document them in their life story, it just might help create a spark of inspiration at some point in time, right?
As a bonus, each category is equipped with several sub-categories. In “Vivid Imagination” we have “Drawings”. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always loved to doodle. I’ve often wondered what life and adventures those “masterpieces”, ahem, had in my mind. Now, my little girl won’t have to wonder. Every time she’s enthralled in a drawing, I always ask her about it, snap a picture and save the details in Kid-Capsule.
Here’s a chance to document your little one’s imagination in action. Print this free Ellie fill in the blank coloring page at the bottom of this post on a standard letter sized sheet of paper. Ask them to replace the pencil she usually carries around with whatever they want. Then just sit back and be mesmerized by what they come up with. Don’t forget to save it in your Kid-Capsule!
If you would like to share their creations, go to our Facebook page and post them in the comments.

One of the features we are most excited about in Version 1.2 is the ability to share events with other Kid-Capsule users. Now grandma and grandpa won’t miss a thing. They will have their very own copy of all the priceless moments you have saved. Kid-Capsule will package your event in a file which will be sent via email and can then be imported by the recipient into their own device.
This is how it works:
Send an Event to other Kid-Capsule users:
You will have the option of sharing any type of media via email, as long as you have linked photos and videos to your event.
Tapping photo or video will open the appropriate gallery and prepare the media that will be attached to your message and exported to a special kca file.
Kid-Capsule will package your event in a file which will be sent via email.
After sending your email you will return to your event screen.
Receive and Import an Event from other Kid-Capsule users:
When you receive a shared event from a Kid-Capsule user your email will have a kca file attached to it. You will easily recognize it because you will see the Kid-Capsule logo on the attachment while viewing it on your device.
Tapping on the file will prompt you to open it in Kid-Capsule.
Once you open the file, Kid-Capsule will launch and you will be presented with the Event Import Wizard.
The wizard will guide you through the steps to import the event.
Once you finish and the event has been imported, you will be presented with a success message. The imported event will be a replica of the event that the sender has on her device including the child’s profile, the place (together with coordinates if applicable) and the media files that were attached.
If you don’t yet have Kid-Capsule, download it on the App Store:
If you have an iPhone or iPod touch you carry it with you wherever you go, right?
Yes, you know who you are, proud daddy who takes your cell phone into the delivery room. That is exactly what my hubby did, no camera, no video camera, just his handy dandy iPhone and the first thing he did when she was born was snap a pic of our bundle of joy.
Now with Kid-Capsule 1.1 you can share that very first memory with our brand new Birth Announcement Layout. Just a couple of taps and your family and friends will have a beautiful keepsake of your new addition to enjoy for years to come.
I love vintage style photo frames, I believe they bring a particular character to photographs and they evoke a certain familiarity. That is why initially, I chose to frame the profile image of Kid-Capsule’s main screen in a Polaroid-esque frame and make the caption screen resembled the bottom of the Polaroid where you add handwritten notes to them. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this was going to be the factor that would have my app rejected.
I’ve used several photography apps that have Polaroid style frames and I have also seen other brands of actual film with similar frames. It honestly never occurred to me that it is their Trademark.
This whole issue set my app approval time back about a week even though I submitted my changes the same night it got rejected.
After the app rejection, I found out about others that had the same problem. My reason for posting my experience is to let other developers out there know that this is still an issue with iPhone apps so be cautious and get the appropriate licenses or just change your graphics like I ended up doing.
