Kid-Capsule Version 1.1.1

June 28, 2011

When updating from Version 1.0 to Version 1.1 there was an issue with the photo galleries not being accessible. Version 1.1.1 fixes this issue and users that updated from Version 1.0 will now be able to view their media galleries.

Known issues in Version 1.1.1:

  • There is an issue trying to view slideshows for images added in previous versions of Kid-Capsule
  • There is an issue trying to view videos created in previous versions of Kid-Capsule

We have fixed both issues and Version 1.1.2 will be submitted as soon as we finish testing.

We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Share family events through email and Facebook with Kid-Capsule for iPhone

Every parent is proud of their child’s accomplishments and what better way to show it off than by telling friends and family.

Kid-Capsule not only makes it easy to share your child’s eventful moments with email and Facebook, it also creates a great layout for everyone to notice.

Everything is done for you, you only need a couple of taps to send it to everyone on your email list or post it to your Facebook Wall. You can also print your layouts afterwards to send via regular mail or have it as a keepsake in your scrapbook.

iPhone apps and Polaroid Legal Issues

June 10, 2011

I love vintage style photo frames, I believe they bring a particular character to photographs and they evoke a certain familiarity. That is why initially, I chose to frame the profile image of Kid-Capsule’s main screen in a Polaroid-esque frame and make the caption screen resembled the bottom of the Polaroid where you add handwritten notes to them. Never in my wildest dreams did I think this was going to be the factor that would have my app rejected.

I’ve used several photography apps that have Polaroid style frames and I have also seen other brands of actual film with similar frames. It honestly never occurred to me that it is their Trademark.

This whole issue set my app approval time back about a week even though I submitted my changes the same night it got rejected.

After the app rejection, I found out about others that had the same problem. My reason for posting my experience is to let other developers out there know that this is still an issue with iPhone apps so be cautious and get the appropriate licenses or just change your graphics like I ended up doing.

Kid-Capsule: a Family Journaling App for your iPhone and iPod touch

June 8, 2011

Hello everyone, we are very excited to announce that the first version of Kid-Capsule is finally available on the App Store!

Kid-Capsule is an event journaling app for iPhone® or iPod Touch®. It helps you record and relive your child’s adventures in growing up through journaling, photos and movies. It’s meant for all stages in your child’s life, from when they’re born, the trials of potty training, school, sports, Ph.D., wedding, you name it.

This project was born from a love of preserving memories, scrapbooking, photography and of course software development.

I am a mommy to a 2 year old, a sister to a 15 year old, a wife, a photographer, an iPhone addict and a computer scientist and this was the perfect oportunity to put all those things together in a great package.

To celebrate our launch we are having a promotional sale this week until Monday June 13th, you can download the app for ¢99 down from it’s original price of $2.99!

We have many things on the horizon so stay tuned!
